Continuous galvanising line produces first coil
John Cockerill and Tata Steel have celebrated the successful production of the first coil on the Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL1). The line is at Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar plant and was supplied and commissioned by John Cockerill.

Thyssenkrupp and Primetals start up slab caster and hot-strip mill
Primetals Technologies and Thyssenkrupp Steel have celebrated the start up of slab caster no.4 and hot-strip mill no.4 at Thyssenkrupp’s Bruckhausen site in Duisburg Germany. The caster and mill were supplied by Primetals and have increased capacity from 1.8Mt to 3.1Mt per year.

British Steel supplies rail for metro extension
British Steel has supplied more than 1,100 rails of 39e1 profile rail for the extension of the West Midlands Metro. The rails, weighing almost 850t, have been supplied to the Midland Metro Alliance and have been used in the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill extension.

British Steel receives ‘good’ status in sustainability audit
British Steel has retained its ‘good’ status in sustainability after an audit by the British Standards Institution. The certification is against the BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing Standard and comes after an audit across British Steel's operations in June.
