British Steel will take on 44 new employees at their Teesside Beam Mill as it looks to increase production.

The company is upshifting in October 2025 and recently completed a £1.5m summer maintenance project.

Lee Sotheby, plant manager for the site said: “This is a really positive step forward, not just for British Steel but for the Teesside area as a whole.

“Being able to take on 44 new manufacturing team members is hugely exciting for us as a business and it’s great to see the positive impact this will have on the wider community.

“We can’t wait to be working on the new shift pattern and be doing more of what we do best – supplying quality steel products to our valued construction customers.”

The first intake is currently in training, with a further three intakes scheduled over the next three months.
