USA: August steel shipments up 6.5% from same period last year

US steel mills shipped 8.4Mt (net tons) of steel, an increase of 6.7% when compared with the previous month (July 2018) and a 6.5% increase on the 7.9Mt (net tons) shipped in August 2017, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

Severstal reports Q3 & 9M 2018 operational results

Russian steelmaker Severstal’s operational results for Q3 & 9M 2018 show that hot metal output increased 2% in Q3 2018 to 2.30Mt, up from Q2’s 2.26Mt, following short-term maintenance works at blast furnaces four and five.
