A rolling mill supplied by Danieli as a greenfield project, has started operations in Hai Phong, Vietnam.
The mill is operated by Vietnam-Italy Steel (part of Japan-based Kyoei Steel Group) and can produce 500kt of rebar per year, ranging from 10mm to 51mm in diameter, according to Danieli.
Linked to the existing caster, and upgraded by Danieli, the mill is rolling in billet-to-billet direct-charge mode with temperatures equalised by Danieli Q-Heat induction heaters. The Italy-based company has highlighted this as a factor that can reduce carbon emissions.
During the inauguration ceremony Meguru Nishimura, chairman of Vietnam-Italy Steel, expressed satisfaction in the service provided by Danieli and presented an official certificate of achievement.
