Primetals Technologies has received an order from the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) for the supply of a hot-blast stove.

The fourth internal-combustion-chamber-type stove will be supplied to blast furnace five at the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in India.

It is hoped that the additional stove will allow RSP to carry out sequential repairs on existing stoves while also maintaining production levels.

Primetals will be responsible for the design, engineering, equipment supply, engineering and commissioning of the project.

The internal combustion technology will feature a dome shape and construction designed to manage expansion and high temperatures more efficiently.

Primetals’ unique burner design will also feature, which, according to the company, ensures a more stable flame.

Commissioning of the stove is planned for mid-2026.
