Chinese crude swells with reviving demand
China produced 66.28Mt of crude steel in August, up 12.8% from a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said. Average daily crude steel output stood at 2.1381Mt in August, up 1.2% year on year. Blast furnace iron output was 59.92Mt in August, up 11.1% y-o-y, while output of steel products rose 15. 6% to 91.94Mt.

US considers dumping of rebar by Turkey & Mexico
In September, the US domestic rebar industry filed antidumping cases against Turkey and NAFTA partner, Mexico. A countervailing duty case was also filed against Turkey.

Chinese exports grow 45% y-o-y
China exported 6.14Mt of steel in August, 990kt more than that of July and up 44.8% year on year. August saw the largest steel export volume since October 2010. Steel exports from January to August totaled 41.98Mt up 17.4% y-o-y

August imports to US up on July led by semis
Steel imports to the USA increased in August compared to July by 13.8% according to preliminary government reporting.
