Byrd Amendment still paying US steelmakers
The controversial law, known as the Byrd Amendment, which was passed into law in October 2000 and repealed in December 2005 is still paying money to US steelmakers claiming damage from imported steel and attracting retaliation measures from overseas exporters, according to the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).

Structural not absolute overcapacity in China
China’s large state-owned steelmakers are struggling with thin profits and excess capacities, while the smaller, private steel mills are in much better conditions, Feng Liguo, an expert from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said in an article published in Caijing Magazine.
