NLMK commences supply of Quard to leading mining companies
Russian steelmaker NLMK Group has started to supply steel plate rolled from low-alloyed, abrasion-resistant Quard. The product is being supplied to leading Russian mining companies including Urals Mining and Metallurgical Company.

Global stainless market dominated by Far Eastern players
Markus Moll, managing director of Steel & Metals Market Research of Austria, speaking at the recent World Recycling Convention and Exhibition in Dubai, organised by the Bureau of International Recycling, told delegates that 18/8 stainless steel scrap availability was growing faster over the period 1980 to 2020 than 300 series stainless steel production – the former by 4.6% per annum and the latter by 4%. According to Mr Moll, projected stainless steel demand would climb 5% in Europe between 2014 and 2016 but would stagnate in the NAFTA region over the same period.

April 2015 world crude steel production down 1.7% compared to last year's figure
April 2015’s world crude steel production amounted to 135Mt, down 1.7% when compared to April last year.

Russian rebar certified for use in Europe
Following testing by Technische Universität München in Germany, NLMK’s EAF Kaluga ‘new generation’ minimill, part of the Russian steelmaker’s Long Products Division, has obtained the German national standard DIN 488-1 certification for its 10mm to 25mm diameter class B500B rebar. The company has received a certificate of compliance valid until 2020.
