Latin American finished steel consumption drops 15%
Finished steel consumption in Latin America dropped 15% in January this year while production fell 9%, according to figures released by Alacero, the Latin American Steel Association.

ArcelorMittal sells to Black Diamond
ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel producer, has decided to sell its LaPlace and Vinton Long Carbon facilities in the USA to an affiliate of Black Diamond Capital Management (Black Diamond). The terms of the transaction are confidential and are not being disclosed.

February world crude steel production down 3.3%
World crude steel production for February 2016 was 120Mt, down 3.3% compared with the same period in 2015, according to figures published by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) and based on figures submitted by the 66 countries reporting to the organisation.
