SSAB invests heavily in Mobile, Alabama steel mill
Swedish steelmaker SSAB is planning to invest up to US$100 million on its steel operations in Mobile, Alabama. The aim is to increase production capacity for high-strength, value-added steels including quenched and tempered (Q&T) steels while increasing operational efficiency and reducing raw materials costs.

Gerdau completes sale of four rebar mills

Further European expansion for Liberty Steel
British steelmaker Liberty Steel, part of the global GFG Alliance headed up by Sanjeev Gupta, a man widely regarded as the saviour of the British steel industry, is set for another major expansion of its steel production capacity in continental Europe following a conditional agreement announced today (2 November) to acquire two Belgian steel mills and one in Luxembourg from ArcelorMittal, the world's biggest steelmaker.

NLMK: a 'leader in procurement process digitalisation'
Russian steelmaker NLMK, the largest steelmaker in Russia and, it is claimed, the most efficient, has topped the 'Leader in Procurement Process Digitalisation' nominations for the Competitive Procurement Leader Award. The award's ceremony was held in Moscow at the Corporate Procurement 2018 Summit.
