Global steel demand continues to show resilience, says worldsteel
Global steel demand will reach 1,657.9Mt in 2018, an increase of 3.9% when compared with 2017, according to the World Steel Association’s (worldsteel) October short-range outlook. In 2019 global steel demand is forecast to grow 1.4% to reach 1,681.2Mt.

USA: August steel shipments up 6.5% from same period last year
US steel mills shipped 8.4Mt (net tons) of steel, an increase of 6.7% when compared with the previous month (July 2018) and a 6.5% increase on the 7.9Mt (net tons) shipped in August 2017, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
