Global steel demand will grow 5.8% in 2021, says world steel
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) today released its Short Range Outlook (SRO) for 2021 and 2022. worldsteel forecasts that Global steel demand will grow by 5.8% in 2021 to reach 1.87 billion tonnes, after declining 0.2% in 2020. In 2022 steel demand will see further growth of 2.7% to reach 1.92 billion tonnes.

Russian steelmaker PAO Severstal, one of the world’s leading vertically integrated steel and steel-related mining companies, has been recognised as a Steel Sustainability Champion by The World Steel Association (worldsteel). Every year, the Steel Sustainability Champions Programme commends those steel companies that are most clearly demonstrating their commitment to sustainable development. This is the first year that Russian corporates have been included among the programme’s champions.
