Future Steel Forum 2017 – final programme released
The eagerly awaited programme for the inaugural Future Steel Forum 2017, to be held at the Sheraton Hotel, Warsaw, 14-15 June, has been released and has already prompted favourable comments from the steel industry.
The programme offers a good mix of steel companies, solution suppliers and thought leaders, offers good structure and content and is a one-of-a-kind event.
Dr. Rizwan A Janjua, head, technology, World Steel Association, described Future Steel Forum's programme as having 'an impressive line-up of speakers covering a broad range of topics' while Luc Bongaerts, business development manager with Belgium-based OM Partners, said the event was 'filling a major gap in the steel industry as it combines a conference about steel, but also about IT, something most other industries offer, but not steel'.

World crude steel output increases by 0.8% in 2016
World crude steel production reached 1.62Mt for the year 2016, up 0.8% compared to 2015. Crude steel production decreased in Europe, the Americas and Africa and increased in the CIS, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania, according to figures released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

NLMK contracts Tenova for reheating furnace
Russian steelmaker NLMK Group has contracted US-based Tenova Inc to design and supply a 395 metric tons/hour walking beam furnace for reheating slabs at its Sharon plant in Pennsylvania.
