US steel shipments in April down 1.9% on last year
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has reported that for the month of April 2024, steel mills in the USA shipped 7.35Mt (net tons), a 1.9% decrease from the 7.49Mt (net tons) shipped in April 2023. Shipments were up 0.2% from the 7.33Mt (net tons) shipped in March 2024. Shipments year-to-date in 2024 are 29.17Mt (net tons), down 3.2% when compared with 2023 shipments of 30.13Mt (net tons) for four months.
