The Indian minister of steel, Mr Beni Prasad Verma said that India’ per capita consumption of steel in 2010 was just 55kg compared with the global average of 206kg and an average of 324kg for developed countries.

Industry faces new burdens as banned chemicals list is tripled in EU
There are currently six substances outlawed in the EU under the REACH regulations. However, the European Chemicals Agency has recommended to the EU Commission adding a further 13 chemical compounds to that list.
