China's steel exports up 62.5% in February 2015
China exported 7.8Mt of steel in February 2015, up 62.5% from the same period last year, but was down 24.2% on January 2015 when the country exported 10.29Mt.

High inventories have adverse effect on prices in China
The social inventories of steel traders in China rose more sharply during the recent Spring Festival than they did last year, but were still at a five-year low. The steel inventories of China’s steel mills saw a smaller increase compared to last year, but combined post-holiday inventories have reached a record high, according to a report by China Metals.

Fives to supply Baosteel with two new processing line furnaces

Significant expansion on the cards in India
Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) – otherwise known as Vizag Steel – have both announced modernisation and expansion plans designed to increase the respective hot metal capacities by 23.1Mt and 7.3Mt by the fiscal 2016/17.
