China’s Ministry of Industry and Information (MIIT) has released a work plan designed to transform the country’s domestic steel industry in 2015.
The MIIT will also co-ordinate and organise the work of compiling a medium and long-term development plan for China’s iron ore industry.
The work plan will involve studying policies advancing the abolition of import tariff reduction and exemption, promoting high-end steel products and expanding the use of aluminium products in the transportation and aviation sectors.
Plans are also afoot to revise management standards for the steel industry and build a comprehensive database of steel enterprises.
