Steelie Awards shortlist announced
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has announced the shortlist for the 11th Steelie Awards, which recognise member companies or individuals for their contribution to the steel industry over a one-year period in a series of categories impacting the industry. The winners will be announced on Wednesday 14 October.

Egyptian Olympic stadium buys Russian pipe steel
Russian steelmaker PAO Severstal, one of the world's largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, has supplied large-longitudinal submerged arc-welding pipe (LSAW) for the development of the Olympic stadium in Egypt’s new administrative capital, which reportedly will be called Wedian.

TISCO restarts Taiyuan Blast Furnace No. 5
Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group has successfully restarted its blast furnace No. 5 after it was rebuilt and equipped with a 'Hoogovens' cooling and lining design in the bosh and stack areas. The contract for this part of the rebuild project was awarded to Danieli Corus in February 2019 following the company's rebuild of blast furnace number six, which had relied upon Danieli Corus technology earlier.
