Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group has successfully restarted its blast furnace No. 5 after it was rebuilt and equipped with a 'Hoogovens' cooling and lining design in the bosh and stack areas. The contract for this part of the rebuild project was awarded to Danieli Corus in February 2019 following the company's rebuild of blast furnace number six, which had relied upon Danieli Corus technology earlier.

The blow–in took place 112 days after the blow–down, completing the project eight days ahead of schedule. Danieli Corus claims it is proud to have contributed to this success and is confident that blast furnace No. 5 – like blast furnace No. 6 – will demonstrate its value to Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group in terms of operational efficiency and availability for many years to come.
