North American steel plate manufacturer Leeco Steel has announced that its Monterrey distribution centre in Mexico has enjoyed 11 years accident-free as of 1 April 2023.

According to the company, the safety milestone was achieved thanks to the team's attention to detail and its people-focused approach and accountability.

"We have morning check-ins to see how people are feeling. This helps us gauge whether someone needs to be moved to a job function that does not handle heavy equipment."

“We have morning check-ins to see how people are feeling. This helps us gauge whether someone needs to be moved to a job function that does not handle heavy equipment,” said Mario Farias, warehouse supervisor at Leeco’s Mexico facility. “We find that efforts such as these go a long way in keeping our team safe. We are proud of our safety record and look forward to extending it by continuing to make safety improvements.”

Leeco is currently over five years accident-free at eight of its 11 North American distribution centres and over seven years accident-free at five of its distribution centres. The company’s Portage, IN distribution centre is also over 10 years accident-free.
