Abstracts: Sustainable Steelmaking for the Production Processes of Today and Tomorrow

Efficient hydrogen production and distribution processes will be key to creating a market for fossil-free steel, though in advance of the hydrogen revolution steelmakers will need to adopt a variety of responses in the short to medium term in order to meet sustainability goals. These include multiple steps to minimize, manage and optimize energy needs and, where raw materials cannot be sourced from scrap, reducing the carbon footprint of mining operations will be crucial.
