Abstract: Digitally supported technologies to support sustainable steel production

The European Growth Model relies on a green, digital, and resilient economy. Within this, the digitisation of production plays an important role. Industry 4.0 enables greater production flexibility, improved productivity, and a quality of products. The desire to optimise production requires the use of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology.

SIJ Acroni is taking the path of digital transformation of production by setting up the new INEVITABLE IIoT platform in the production process as part of the H2020 project INEVITABLE. The INEVITABLE IIoT platform consists of supporting tools for the simulation and optimisation of production processes and the digitisation of the infrastructure, which must provide a framework for the effective management of the technological process using supporting tools, considering the level of security required and the possibility of expansion when necessary.
