The World Steel Association is participating at the Rio +20 Conference and will be launching its new publication; ‘Sustainable steel: at the core of a green economy’.
The steel industry will be demonstrating the key position steel has had and will continue to have in the successful sustainable development of our global society.
The steel industry believes that sustainable development must meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Steel exists at the core of a green economy in which economic growth and environmental responsibility work hand in hand, delivering prosperity for all nations while preserving and enhancing the planet’s resources.
Edwin Basson, Director General at worldsteel will participate in a panel session and discuss steel’s contribution in building a sustainable society.
