VIZ-Stal, part of the Russian NLMK Group, has contracted Essen, Germany-based plant builder Tenova LOI Thermprocess to supply a decarburisation and coating line (DCL) for the steelmaker's Ekaterinburg plant in Russia.

The new line will provide one of the most important stages of grain-oriented (GO) electrical strip production, according to Tenova. Steel final processing will be carried out at a newly-built plant located in India. The contract includes engineering, supply and supervision services of the mechanical and process equipment, the heat treatment portion (furnace system) as well as related electrical, measuring and control systems for a DCL line.

This new contract enables Tenova to further consolidate its leading market share in silicon lines, with more than 180 references worldwide over the last 20 years.

Peter Wendt, vice president of Tenova LOI Thermprocess, said that Tenova was very pleased with the order as it confirmed the reliability of the company's technology and 'underlines our strategic partnership with NLMK and VIZ-Stal'.

"We are very pleased for this new order which confirms the reliability of the leading Tenova technology and underlines our strategic partnership with NLMK and VIZ-Stal."

Peter Wendt, vice president, Tenova LOI Thermprocess.

"The NLMK Group is one of our most faithful clients with more than 10 orders over the past 15 years. The new DCL line will ensure the highest surface and best magnetic properties required by the market," Wendt said.

NLMK Group's general director of silicon production, Valery Shevelev commented: "NLMK selected Tenova on the basis of the large number of references for similar heat treatment lines.

"The short execution time is another important factor that led us to choose Tenova as partner for this project. The DCL Line is scheduled to start production by the end of 2021”, Shevelev said.
