Southern Steel Sheet Company (SSSC), a joint venture between the Vietnam Steel Corporation, Japan's Sumitomo Corporation and the Malaysian FIW Steel Sdn. Bhd, have signed a contract with Italian plant builder Tenova, part of the Techint Group, for the upgrade of a colour coating line, which has been in operation since 2014. The aim of the upgrade, claims Tenova, is to increase annual production of the line in order to meet demand for high-quality coated coils for the international and domestic marketplaces.
The upgrade of the colour coating line will consist of two bake ovens with rotary thermal oxidisers and four roll coaters, of which one is horizontal. The new line will have a capacity of up to 100kt/yr.
Over the past four years, in addition to the color coating line, Tenova has supplied SSSC with a continuous galvanising line and has met several orders for spare parts, technological assistance and supervision services.
In total, SSSC has awarded 10 contracts to Tenova, demonstrating, says the latter, long lasting co-operation between the two companies.
