Tubular operations at US Steel’s Lorain mill in Ohio, USA, will be permanent around June time, according to an online media report.
Since April 2015, tubular operations at the site have been idled and the company is blaming unfair imports of tubular products as well as ‘extremely challenging market conditions’ for the situation.
It is only part of the mill that will be permanently shut down. Smaller pipes are produced by the number six quench and temper mill.
US Steel believes that a decline in demand for tubular products will continue.
