The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has reported that for the month of April 2025, US steel mills shipped 7.58Mt (net tons), a 3.1% increase from the 7.35Mt (net tons) shipped in April 2024.

Shipments were down 1.9% from the 7.72Mt (net tons) shipped in the previous month, March 2025. Shipments year-to-date in 2025 are 29.7Mt (net tons), up 2.1% versus 2024 shipments of 29.1Mt (net tons) for four months.

A comparison of shipments year-to-date in 2025 to the first four months of 2024 shows the following changes: corrosion resistant sheet and strip, down 1%, cold rolled sheet and strip, down 2% and hot rolled sheet and strip, down 2%.

The AISI’s membership is comprised of integrated and electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmakers, steel pipe and tube manufacturers and steel processors and fabricators, reflecting the production and distribution of both carbon and stainless steels.
