Tuwairqi Steel Mills Ltd (TSML) has started delivery of DRI from its plant in Pakistan and the first consignment was delivered to Shalimar Steel Mills, Lahore, through Shajarpak (Pvt) Ltd, its authorised Sales and Marketing agent for Pakistan.

The DRI pellets were packed in poly propylene jumbo bags for safe transportation.

TSML has secured various orders for DRI pellets from neighbouring countries, but domestic customers were its priority to facilitate high quality steel manufacturing in the country.

This is the first phase of Saudi based Al-Tuwairqi which has a capacity to produce up to 1.28Mt/y of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), and was completed at an overall investment of $350M.

The Company recently signed a MoU for a second and third phase estimated at a further $900M investment to build a melt shop and also develop iron ore mining within Pakistan.
