Tenova has successfully commissioned a new Consteel plant in Japan.
Tokyo Steel has equipped its new steel plant in Tahara (Japan), which is going to produce 2.5Mt/y of steel, with 360t/hr of steel from the Consteel system, which is the largest installed capacity Consteel in the world.
The new system has been coupled with an EAF of 300tnominal tapping capacity and 420t total capacity.
Thanks to the continuous scrap feeding and preheating Consteel technology, Tokyo Steel will be able to produce flat steel with an extremely low electric consumption and achieve significant environmental advantages compared to a traditional top-charge furnace.
At this stage 20 Consteel’s are in operation in Asia among the 38 awarded worldwide.
