Tenova Goodfellow has successfully commissioned new technology at Evraz Claymont Steel, Claymont, Delaware, USA.
It commissioned its EFSOP Holistic Optimisation technology on an 160t EAF. The application of the technology provided automation of the 4th-hole damper and burn injector profile.
Final acceptance for project included sign off on the new Enhanced Furnace Safety Module implemented in late 2009.
The safety module proved the ability to detect unwanted water, such as snow in the charge bucket and a water panel leak.
