Anand Sen, president, Total Quality Management and Steel Business of Tata Steel will be named Steelmaker of the Year at AISTech 2018 (organised by the Association for Iron & Steel Technology and to be held in Philadelphia, USA, early next month).
The Steelmaker of the Year award is presented annually by AIST to recognise notable leaders for their impact on the industry.
Mr. Sen is being recognised for his visionary leadership and strategic planning, which is driving decisive changes within Tata Steel.
Mr. Sen pioneered the regionalisation of advanced automotive steel grades for the Indian car industry and is credited with driving the philosophy of total quality management across industry sectors.
As is customary, the award will be presented to Mr Sen at AISTech’s annual President’s Award Breakfast, which this year takes place on 8 May. The occasion will also feature a keynote address by Roger K Newport, chief executive officer of AK Steel entitled Providing Innovative and Sustainable Steel Solutions.
AISTech 2018 will be held 7-10 May at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre in Philadelphia, Pa, USA and will offer a programme with hundreds of technical presentations, a large exhibition space, plant tours and the unique Town Hall Forum and keynote presentations by the global steel industry’s business leaders.
