Tata Steel has contracted plant supplier Danieli for a new, 700kt/yr HRPGL line to be installed at its Cold Rolling Complex West, at the Tarapur facility, India, to produce different coated grades and process strips of different thicknesses and widths.

The target of the investment is to diversify the portfolio of hot-rolled galvanized products, and at competitive costs.

The pickling section, based on Danieli patented Turboflo® technology with advanced turbulent channel, will allow the highest energy savings and process flexibility regardless of strip grade and operational speed, according to the supplier.

Danieli Centro Combustion will provide the vertical heat-to-coat furnace equipped low-NOx burners, jet coolers, and after-pot coolers, to process the hot-rolled strip.

The plant will be run by Danieli Automation electrical and automation systems, which the company claims will provide full process control and minimize manual interventions. Line commissioning is planned in early 2026.
