Tata Steel has published an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for three flat steel products: Steel Slab, Cold Rolled Closed Annealed Steel, and Galvanised Steel.
An EPD is an independently verified and registered document that outlines information about the environmental impacts of a product.
Vice president of safety health and sustainability at Tata Steel, Rajiv Mangal, said: “The steel industry plays a critical role in shaping a more sustainable future. This EPD reflects our proactive approach to transparency and accountability, providing our customers with the verified data to make informed purchasing decisions.
“EPDs are an important validation tool both for manufacturers and customers. In response to the growing emphasis on sustainability, we are working to publish EPDs for a broader range of our products.”
EPDs are used in the green construction and building materials sector to disclose the embodied carbon of products.
Tata Steel published its first EPD in 2022 for Steel Reinforcing Bar, and has since published 50 EPDs in Europe.
