Stegra has entered into an agreement with railway operator Green Cargo, which will manage freight flows between Stegra’s Boden plant and various ports.
The steelmaker has already entered into agreements with the ports of Luleå, Skellefteå and Umeå regarding the transport of goods to and from the plant.
Jenny Marin, logistics development manager at Stegra, said: “The collaboration with such an experienced player in Swedish rail logistics as Green Cargo means a lot to us, and also means that we will have robust management of the logistics flows in our coming operations.”
State-owned Green Cargo is the largest railway operator for freight in Sweden.
CEO of Green Cargo, Henrik Dahlin, added: “We are pleased to have been entrusted with contributing to Stegra’s establishment in Boden. This is an important assignment for Green Cargo and a clear example of how rail can contribute to the transformation, competitiveness and growth of Swedish industry.
“With our experience in large-scale rail logistics, we can help ensure stable freight flows between Stegra’s plant and the ports that will be critical to their logistics setup.”
