Turkish green steel producer Tosyali Holding Company has announced plans to deploy 140 MW of solar power generating capacity on top of its facilities, costing $71 million (64.8 million euro).
The company said in a statement that it is working with Huawei and local installation services provider SolarApex to implement the project in stages.
According to Tosyali Holding, this is the world’s largest rooftop solar project and it will be executed on an area of 632 square metres (6,803 sq ft). The first phase of the project will involve the installation of 85 MW of solar panels and is expected to be finalised within seven months. Once the rest of the planned capacity is deployed, the solar arrays will be able to generate a total of 250 million kWh of electricity per year.
