Six workers have been killed, with four others seriously injured, after a coal kiln exploded at a steel plant in Bhatapara, India, on 22 January.
The incident, which happened at Real Ispat & Power, situated in Bakulahi village, occurred during kiln operations, sending hot coal and debris across a platform where workers were present.
Police and district administration teams rushed to the plant soon after the incident, where 10 workers were recovered, with six unfortunately succumbing to their injuries.
An investigation has been launched in order to determine compliance with safety standards and norms.
The incident has further heightened concerns over industrial safety in the state’s mineral and mining belt.
