The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has awarded Salzgitter AG an ‘A’ rating for its commitment to climate protection, for the second year in a row.
The recognition is a reflection of Slazgitter’s efforts to pursue its strategy towards greater sustainability and climate protection.
Gunnar Groebler, chairman of the Executive Board of Salzgitter said: "Receiving the top rating once again is confirmation for us that we are on the right track with our 'Salzgitter AG 2030' strategy and are not letting up. Sustainable and efficient industry and climate protection are not mutually exclusive, even in a challenging market environment. Quite to the contrary: the two belong together.
“Especially with our SALCOS® transformation program, we are taking responsibility and pioneering competitive, low-CO2 steel production in Germany. The fact that we have been awarded an A rating for the second time in a row is both an incentive and an obligation to continue determinedly on our path."
The CDP assessment is based on criteria that include the transparent disclosure of environmental data, the identification and evaluation of environmental risks, the introduction of effective management processes and the implementation of specific measures geared to improving environmental performance.
Out of the 23,000 companies assessed only 4% met the requirements for the ‘A’ category.
