SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in India has reported a production milestone from its plate mill, surpassing its rated annual capacity.
The Danieli-supplied plate mill is designed to roll 920kt of plate products, but has recently recorded an annual production of 993kt.
Further operational benchmarks were also set during the same production cycle, including a single-day rolling record exceeding 5.1kt and a slab-rolling record of over 380 slabs per day.
Danieli highlighted that these results confirm the reliability of the mill process control systems, automation platforms and the company’s equipment.
The plate mill is designed to deliver a wide range of products, including API pipeline steels, shipbuilding plates, and special grades for advanced engineering uses, such as defence applications.
