Ruukki's Mo i Rana plant in Norway is to discontinue operations until further notice.
The unit makes shipbuilding profiles and flange profiles for wind turbine towers. According to plan, the unit will be closed by no later than mid-May 2010, affecting 110 staff.
Demand in the shipbuilding industry has been weak and the Mo i Rana unit posted an operating loss of €30M for 2009, and the demand in the shipbuilding industry is expected to decline this year compared to the previous year.
Rautaruukki has operations in 27 countries and employs around 11700 people. Net sales in 2009 were approximately €2bn.
