Ruukki has signed a contract with Peab Sverige for a sports stadium in Stockholm, Sweden. The steel structures and roofing elements are worth €20M.

Ruukki has signed a contract with Peab Sverige for a sports stadium in Stockholm, Sweden. The steel structures and roofing elements are worth €20M.

The Swedish National Arena (Swedbank Arena) will be one of the largest stadiums in Northern Europe featuring a sliding roof. The arena, due to be completed in 2012, will hold 50 000 spectators for football matches and 65 000 for concerts and other events.

The components will be manufactured mainly at Ruukki’s units in Finland and bolted together at construction stage. Deliveries to the site will begin in June 2010 until August 2011.

Ruukki has been involved in arenas in Sweden, Russia and the Baltic states, including the Malmö Arena and the Swedbank Stadion both in Malmö, Sweden
