Siemens has received an order from the Qatar Steel Company has ordered an SVC Plus static Var compensator from Siemens for its new electric steel plant in Mesaieed.
Siemens had already received an order to supply major parts of the steel works in the summer of 2010.
The task of the compensation plant is to maintain the grid power quality, and so ensure compliance with the power supplier's specifications.
The electric steel plant is scheduled to come into production in the middle of 2012.
