Chinese steel producer, Hebei Jinxi Iron and Steel Group has placed an order with Primetals Technologies for two continuous casters.

The casters have a capacity of 2.5Mt/year and can produce slabs 200mm to 230mm thick, and 800mm to 1800mm wide.

The project will work with a variety of steel grades including: low- to high-carbon, low-alloy and non-grain-oriented silicon grades.

Utilising the LevCon system, the casters will also provide automated mold-level control with “autostart” casting functions and auto-adaptive dynamic bulging compensation.

The order also includes Level 1 and Level 2 automation systems, which Primetals states can ensure state-of-the-art process control and optimisation.

The casters will be implemented at Jinxi Steel’s plant near Tangshan in the Hebei province, with startup scheduled for the end of 2026.

Founded in 1986, Hebei Jinxi Iron and Steel Group comprises more than 40 holding companies in China and abroad. The group manufacturers a wide range of steel products, such as coil, H-beams and pipes.
