Primetals Technologies has received an order for the implementation of a three-strand billet caster and a high-speed rebar outlet from Indian steel producer Jeevaka Industries. The order is for Jeevaka’s steel mill in Hyderabad, Telangana, with start-up expected in the first half of 2026.

The billet caster will be supplied by Concast India, a subsidiary of Primetals, and will produce 100mm to 200mm square sections. A high speed-cutting mechanism will also feature in the equipment, minimising waste and operational costs. The new single-strand rebar outlet will roll 350kt of 8mm to 40mm rebar per yet, at a speed of 45m/s.

The scope of the supply includes features such as a Morgan No-Twist Mill, which incorporates eDrive technology. and a Morgan Water Box. eDrive technology, produced by Primetals, utilises innovations in electrical drives and motor technologies, to combine with the Morgan No-Twist Mill to provide processing flexibility, helping reduce operational costs for bar, rebar, and wire rod mills. Meanwhile the Morgan Water Box will provide efficient, in-line product temperature control, ensuring desired properties throughout the rolling process, according to Primetals.

Jeevaka is a producer and manufacturer of specialised structural steel products used in the pre-engineered industry, including beams, channels and angles. Concast and Jeevaka share a long-standing partnership with Concast supplying a two-strand caster that has been in operation for 16 years.
