Primetals Technologies has opened a service workshop in Santa Cruz, Brazil. The nearly 8,000m² facility will offer a range of advanced maintenance and refurbishment services. It is also strategically located between major steel producers and key transport routes.
It is hoped that the technologies used in the facility will meet the growing demands of Brazil’s steel and industrial sectors by increasing the reliability and lifespan of equipment.
Eberhard Karnitsch-Einberger, head of global business unit metallurgical services at Primetals, said: “This service workshop represents a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting our customers in Brazil and beyond, in line with our motto ‘Next Level Services Now.’
“It is a game-changer for the region. Our investment in advanced technologies and our strategic location underscore our dedication to supporting the growth of Brazil’s steel and industrial sectors.”
The Santa Cruz workshop is able to work on hot and cold rolling mills, plus galvanising line rollers. Advanced technologies, including laser cladding and high-velocity coating systems, can enable precise and durable refurbishments, according to Primetals.
The service workshop will also use advanced digital tools to automate workflows, enhance traceability and ensure strong quality control. Operations in the facility are also fully tracked, allowing for Primetals to offer, reliable real-time data.
Gabriel Lenna, CEO of Primetals Technologies Brazil, said: "Digitalisation is at the core of this workshop’s design. Our digital ecosystem enables faster, safer, and more predictable services for our customers.
“With this state-of-the-art facility, we deliver not only operational excellence but also full asset traceability, enhanced decision-making capabilities, and the protection and evolution of our technical know-how.
"We are confident in our ability to help customers extend the lifetime of their equipment, reduce risks, and achieve sustainable business outcomes.”
