ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt has awarded Primetals Technologies the provisional acceptance certificate following the modernisation of its reversing cold mill.
The mill in Eisenhüttenstadt, Germany, received a new strip press, fume exhaust system, media system and safety logic functions.
The project also featured an automation upgrade, which included auxiliary controls for the new mechanical equipment, a drive system for the new fume exhaust system, and integrated safety logic functions.
It is hoped that the modernisation project will allow ArcelorMittal to achieve a higher quality in silicon steel production. Aspects such as the new filters and strip detectors will enable the company to enhance the surface quality of its products.
Furthermore, the automation upgrades prepare the mill to meet current and future market demands, as they enable precise and optimised strip shape adjustments.
ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt is an integrated steel plant covering the entire steel value chain, from iron and steelmaking to hot and cold rolling. The company employs about 2,650 people, making it the largest industrial development centre in East Brandenburg.
