LIBERTY Steel to phase out coal-based steelmaking in Australia
LIBERTY Steel has announced the phase out of coal-based steelmaking at its Whyalla plant in South Australia, with the signing of a supply contract for an electric arc furnace from equipment manufacturer Danieli.

KC Woody to become CEO of Midrex Technologies
Stephen Montague, current president and CEO of Midrex Technologies Inc, will retire in April 2024. KC Woody will be promoted to president effective immediately and maintain his current role as chief operating officer (COO). Montague will remain as CEO until his retirement and then continue to serve on the board of directors.

SMS group installs continuous caster at Nucor Brandenburg
One of the world's largest casters, a single-strand caster supplied by SMS group for ultra-wide and thick slabs, has successfully started production at Nucor Corporation. Designed for an annual capacity of 1.45Mt (1.6 million short tons), the slab caster is a core element of the production chain for Nucor's new plate mill in Brandenburg, Kentucky, USA.
