Two-tier growth predicted for steel demand
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) forecasts that apparent steel use will increase by 6.5% to 1398Mt in 2011, following growth of 15.1% in 2010. In 2012, it is forecast that world steel demand will grow by 5.4%.

Japanese Fastmet recycling plant opens
Japanese steelmakers Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel) and Kobe Steel said commercial operation was launched at their steel mill dust recycling plant in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture using Kobe’s Fastmet rotary hearth technology.
