Finnish steelmaker Outotec is to make more than 100 of its employees redundant.

It said the measures were part of its efforts to improve operational efficiency with the aim of saving €25M/y compared to Q4 2009.

A total of 84 employees will be lost from its corporate management, support functions, research centre and business units in Finland.

The total staff reduction in Finland by the end of 2010 will be 120 people, when retirements and the termination of temporary contracts are taken into account.

It added a further 50 staff may be made redundant from its global operations during 2010.
