Outotec has established a subsidiary in Kolkata, India.
It said Outotec India offers technologies and services for the mining and metals industry.
Outotec has already employed 30 people for sales, engineering and project services in India and other countries.
Outotec has decades of experience in India through its predecessors Outokumpu and Lurgi Metallurgie. Some of the most recent technology deliveries include, an iron ore pelletising plant to Tata Steel and iron ore sintering plants to Bhushan Steel.
The mining and metals industry growth in India, fuelled by its huge population, fast economic growth and major reserves of natural resources, sets increasing demand for technologies, equipment and services. In 2008, Outotec’s sales to India were €80M. The inauguration of the Outotec subsidiary took place in December.
