Outokumpu is closing its Veteli, Finland site in a bid to reduce costs.

The site produces fittings for tubular products. Two of its production lines will be moved to Outokumpu’s site in Jakobstad, Finland while the third will be closed. Some other production will be moved to its Svedjeholmen in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden site.

The Veteli site is set to shut in March. About 50 people will be affected by the changes, with some being offered a transfer to Jakobstad.

“This move enables us to integrate the fittings production into the process pipe plant of Jakobstad and to use our different production methods in an optimal way,” said Lasse Johansson, head of the OSTP business unit.
